Budapest's Statue Park
Tuesday, July 6, 2010
Our side trip today was to the edge of Budapest to tour the Statue Park. During the era of communism, statues were erected in Budapest to remind people of whom they should remain loyal to. Annamaria, our Fullbright hostess was sharing with us where some of the status were posted around Budapest. In 1989...at the end of communist rule in Hungary, the statues were removed from the city but placed in the park as a dedication to all those who survived under Communist enforced rule.
